Top things to do to help with Bleeding Gums

The good news is that there are many things you can do to help with bleeding gums. Here are a few of the top tips:

Practice good oral hygiene

This is the single most important thing you can do to prevent bleeding gums. Brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing once a day will remove plaque and bacteria that can irritate your gums and cause them to bleed.

•  Brushing: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and gentle circular motions. Be sure to brush all the surfaces of your teeth, including the gum line.
•  Flossing: Use a clean section of floss each time you floss. Gently slide the floss between your teeth and under your gumline.

Use a fluoride mouth wash

A fluoride mouthwash can help to strengthen your teeth and prevent cavities, which can also contribute to bleeding gums. Look for a mouthwash that contains fluoride and is alcohol-free.

Quit Smoking

Smoking is one of the worst things you can do for your oral health. It weakens your immune system and makes it harder for your body to fight off infection, including gum disease. If you smoke, quitting is the single best thing you can do to improve the health of your gums.

See your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings

Even if you practice good oral hygiene at home, it is important to see your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings. During a checkup, your dentist will examine your gums and teeth for signs of gum disease. They will also clean your teeth to remove plaque and tartar, which can irritate your gums and cause them to bleed.

If you have concerns about bleeding gums, be sure to see your dentist as soon as possible. Early diagnosis and treatment of gum disease can help to prevent serious complications.

Other things you can do

In addition to the tips listed above, there are a few other things you can do to help with bleeding gums:

•  Eat a healthy diet. A diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help to boost your immune system and make it easier for your body to fight off infection.
•  Get enough sleep. When you are sleep-deprived, your body is more susceptible to infection. Aim for at least 7 hours of sleep each night.
•  Manage stress. Stress can weaken your immune system and make it harder for your body to fight off infection. Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as exercise or yoga.
•  Use a humidifier. Dry air can irritate your gums and make them more likely to bleed. A humidifier can help to add moisture to the air and prevent your gums from becoming dry.

By following these tips, you can help prevent and treat bleeding gums. However, it is always important to see a dentist if you have any concerns.
